How to Register Your Domestic Worker for UIF: Step by Step
Who must be registered for UIF, what you need, how to register on uFiling and how much to contribute: a step-by-step guide for SA household employers.
Why it matters
UIF gives your worker income support during unemployment, illness, maternity or adoption leave. Registering is a legal duty if your worker works more than 24 hours a month for you.
Step 1: Get your details ready
Your ID, your worker's ID, your address and their monthly wage.
Step 2: Register online
Use the DEL's uFiling portal: https://ufiling.labour.gov.za/uif/
Step 3: Pay monthly
Contribute 2% of wages: 1% from you, plus 1% deducted from the worker (a contribution ceiling applies; check uFiling for the current amount).
Step 4: Keep records
Keep payslips and declarations for at least three years.
How HouseholdSure SA helps
Members get guided UIF capture, upload their documents in one place, and can track the registration status online. We help with the admin, but we can't guarantee the outcome of a registration or a claim.
