How refunds, cancellations and service delivery work for HouseholdSure SA memberships

This policy explains how refunds, cancellations and service delivery work for HouseholdSure SA("HouseholdSure", "we", "us", or "our") membership subscriptions.

1. Service Delivery

HouseholdSure SA is a digital subscription service delivered electronically via our website and mobile applications. No physical goods are shipped.

Membership fees are billed monthly in advance. Payment is processed through our authorized payment gateway:

A once-off R199 setup fee applies to new memberships and covers initial onboarding, verification, and system configuration. This fee is charged together with your first monthly subscription fee.

All fees are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

3. Cancellation Policy

3.1 Cancel Anytime

You may cancel your membership at any time with no penalty or early termination fee.

3.2 How to Cancel

To cancel your membership:

  1. Log into your member portal at My Membership
  2. Click Cancel Membership and follow the prompts, or
  3. Contact us at billing@householdsuresa.co.za with your member ID and request cancellation

3.3 Cancellation Effective Date

When you cancel, your membership remains active until the end of your current billing period. You retain full access to all features until that date. No further charges will be made after cancellation.

3.4 Reactivation

You may reactivate a cancelled membership at any time by logging in and selecting a new plan. The setup fee does not apply to reactivations within 90 days of cancellation.

4. Refund Policy

4.1 General Refund Principles

Because HouseholdSure SA is a digital subscription service delivered immediately upon payment, refunds are generally not provided for partially used months except as required by South African consumer protection law.

4.2 Cooling-Off Period (Direct Marketing)

If your membership was purchased through direct marketing channels (email, SMS, or telemarketing), you have a 5 business day cooling-off period under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. To exercise this right:

If you were charged incorrectly due to a system error, duplicate payment, or technical issue:

If you paid for membership but did not receive access to the service due to a technical failure on our part, you are entitled to a full refund. Contact us immediately at support@householdsuresa.co.za.

4.5 No Refunds for Partial Months

If you cancel mid-month, your membership remains active until the end of the paid period, but no pro-rata refund is provided for unused days within that month (unless required by law).

4.6 Setup Fee

The once-off R199 setup fee is refundable only during the cooling-off period or in cases of payment error. It is not refunded upon standard cancellation after the cooling-off period has passed.

4.7 Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds are processed within 7-10 business days and returned to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take an additional 3-5 business days for the funds to reflect in your account.

5. Disputes & Chargebacks

5.1 Contact Us First

If you have a payment or billing concern, please contact us directly before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. Most issues can be resolved quickly through our support team.

5.2 Chargeback Consequences

Initiating a chargeback without first attempting to resolve the issue with us may result in:

Fraudulent chargebacks (claims made after services have been delivered and used) may be reported to payment processors and credit bureaus, and may result in legal action to recover costs and damages.

6. Changes to Fees

6.1 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change membership fees at any time. Existing members will receive 30 days' advance notice of any price increase.

6.2 Grandfathering

If you signed up at a promotional or discounted rate, that rate applies for the duration stated at sign-up. After the promotional period ends, standard pricing will apply.
